Tanya Elchuk is an actor, writer, educator, and researcher. She has performed with companies such as Patria Productions, United Players, and Double Edge Theatre. Her original plays and performance works have been seen at festivals and cabarets throughout North America. Tanya holds an MFA in Acting and post-grad Voice Teaching Diploma from York University, where she received a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship and was named one of Canada’s Top 5 Storytellers by SSHRC for her research on the neuroscience of acting. She is on the Editorial Board of the Voice and Speech Review, and has articles published in that journal, Theatre Topics Online, and The Canadian Theatre Review. Tanya teaches acting with a voice specialization at the University of British Columbia and Douglas College. She also maintains a professional coaching practice for voice, speech, and presence. In her free time, Tanya writes books for children and has had manuscripts short- and long-listed in the CANSCAIP Writing for Children Contest. She is an active member of SCBWI, CANSCAIP, and The Manuscript Academy.
